Avian Influenza (HPAI) is a virus that occurs in birds. Laying hens can contract HPAI when migratory waterfowl pass over farm areas and leave droppings containing the virus. HPAI cases typically happen in the spring and fall when wild birds migrate. Currently, some of our farmers are housing their hens in barns to protect them HPAI. You can learn more about HPAI and get updates on the status of our farms here.
